Cervical Position During Pregnancy

Dear Anai,

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this. I have a question in regards to my cervix. I monitor my cervix, cm, and am also bbting. Everything at ovulation (11-12 days ago) was working hand-in-hand, so to speak.

For the past 4 days, I have had a lot of lotion-like cm and my cervix has softened up again and is in a fairly low position. I didn't monitor these things with my first pregnancy, and I don't really know if this means anything or not. I've never encountered a low, soft cervix before - only high and soft at ovulation.

Any insight into this would be of great help. Thank you very much for your time.

Sincerely,

Annette

Dear Annette,

This is a question asked many and the answer unfortunately is still the same - one cannot tell if they are pregnant post-ovulation by checking cervical position.

The reason why lies in the two stages the cervix changes to - high and low. Before and after your period, it is low. During ovulation, it is high and "open".

Since it returns to a low position after ovulation - even when pregnant (for the initial first week or two), one cannot feel a difference enough to spot pregnancy.

Cervical position is only used to determine possible ovulation, not pregnancy. It is tempting to check especially when the waiting game is so frustrating!

I hope this helps you and I wish you much luck this cycle!

Thank you for writing,
