Light Spotting During Luteal Phase
Dear Anai,
Thank you in advance for any insight you can provide on my situation. My husband and I are trying to conceive baby #2 (I am 31) and after seven months, I am starting to wonder if I may need some help.
I have consistently spotted for six days prior to my period (sometimes prior to day 10 of the luteal phase). I did have the same situation when we conceived our daughter and am hopeful that this is just part of my 'normal' cycle, but am worried now that it could mean a LPD because it only took two months to conceive the first time. I am not showing any signs of fibroids, endometriosis or thryoid problems.
What would you recommend doing at this point?
Thanks again,
Mrsljf
Dear Mrsljf,
Have you gone through the recommended 90 day preconception testing? If you haven't, you really should. Those three months will help you prepare for conception as well as iron out any problems that may prevent you from conceiving.
Get a full sexually transmitted disease (STD) panel done. This is also recommended for your partner. If there is something between you that is inhibiting conception, that must be taken of. You will both be treated at the same time.
Also, keep in mind that it can take up to a year normally to conceive. The older you get - the longer it may take. So be patient and keep yout doctor involved as much as possible.
Good luck and thank you for writing,
