Once an Exaggerator, Always an Exaggerator

AnaiRhoads.org - The White House corrected a claim by President Bush that Libya had 50 tons of mustard gas. The actual amount discovered in the Libya was 23.6 tons, nearly half the amount Bush claimed.
Bush did not take the opportunity to correct himself during his press conference Tuesday night, however, press secretary Scott McClellan sought out reporters to correct Bush's matter-of-fact statements throughout the day on Wednesday.
The President said twice that 50 tons of the mustard gas were uncovered, "They found 50 tons of mustard gas in a turkey farm." Then adding confirmation on Iraq's exaggerated weapons of mass destruction, Bush suggested, "They could still be there. They could be hidden, like the 50 tons of mustard gas in a turkey farm."
Weapons of mass destruction was the key argument for the invasion of Iraq. There had not been any credible evidence that Iraq had stockpiles and no WMD have been uncovered in Iraq since the U.S. and coalition forces entered the country.
