Tell Us Your Views: Discuss Ongoing Iraq War and its Impact on Poverty
20 March 2006
AnaiRhoads.org - The war in Iraq and Afghanistan have taken a toll on the U.S. budget and has exposed the Bush administration's criminal behaviour. Polls are showing a clear discontent with the President's performance, going as far as to openly call him incompetent.
These wars are not just a burden to our budget - they have produced thousands of bodies of innocent men, women, and children, displaced millions, and have caused enormous damage to necessary infrastructures. People are afraid of leaving their homes, for fear of an attack, rape, or finding themselves in the midst of fighting.
Impact of War on Poverty
America has the wealth to eradicate serious hunger in the world, but chose to kill of thousands in its fight for oil instead. Proving itself to be greedy and self-important.
Not many people know that over 1 billion people, (one fifth of the world’s population), barely survives on less than $1.00 per day. Over half of the world’s population lives on less than $2.00 a day.
There are an estimated 852 million people in the world that go without meals on any given day, and 11 million a year children die from hunger.
Over 20 million babies are born below normal weight and size, making them most vulnerable in their infancy. Very few survive, but those that manage to more than often suffer a wide range of impairments that last their entire lives.
In America there is estimated 34 million people that are living below the poverty level.
Speak Up
Be outraged against the Bush administration. Remember that every dollar of the billions of dollars spent for the Iraq war and occupation takes away from the mouths of people who have little or nothing.
