Veriana Media - A study in the July issue of Pediatrics showed a possible link between early vitamin supplementation and asthma in infants.
Children's National Medical Centre in Washington researched over 8,000 newborns for the study and found most African-American infants developed food allergies and asthma symptoms. The finding were based on data provided from a 1991 government study.
The report also suggests that there is "an association between early infant multivitamin intake and food allergies in formula-fed infants."
Infant formula is fortified with vitamins and minerals to help supplment nutrition, but the researchers of this study are now recommending the levels of vitamins be reduced.
Toddlers are not immune to developing asthma and food allergies. The study showed a significant increase of allergies in children as old as three years of age.
