"If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich." -- John F. Kennedy

Join the Gas Out Initiative!

03 May 2007

by Christian McPhate, Contributing writer for AnaiRhoads.org

AnaiRhoads.org - On May 15, 2007, gas consumers should not purchase gas from area convenience stores, mom & pop stations or corporate-owned stations.

In April 1997, American consumers initiated a nationwide "Gas Out" where millions of responsible and irresponsible citizens declined to give oilmongers their money for one day.

Gasoline prices fell almost 30 cents.

Currently, more than 73,000,000 Americans use the Internet network, and the average car takes between $30 and $50 to fill up (a hell of a lot more if you own a truck or an SUV).

If all of the computer surfers ignored the temptation of the gas pump on May 15, the oilmongers would loose more than $3 billion in profits (just do not go to the gas station the day before to fill up your car, or it will not work).

Of course, proponents of the national "Gas Out" will scream that it will not make a difference in the schemes of the moneymonger’s world, but what else are we going to do? If they have a better plan to lower gas prices where it hurts (the money), then please step forward, initiate a plan, and help the American people get back to their capitalistic euphorias.

So if you care about gas prices then do not go to the pump on May 15; instead, you could spend the day investigating the next crop of candidates who are running for public office and find out their stance on gasoline.

Let us actually vote in a new batch of politicians who actually care about the citizens of this country – instead of the lining of their pockets.
