Birth Control: Female Condom

What is a female condom?

The female condom is made from polyurethane. It lines the inside of the vagina and covers the cervix securely to prevent pregnancy. It looks like an inverted male condom, but made especially for women. Its success rate is 95% if used properly.

Where can I get the female condom?

Am-I-Pregnant.com sell the female condom here. You will not need a prescription to obtain the female condom. Most specialty shops carry it. Places like Planned Parenthood may carry them as they do with male condoms. You may also ask your doctor for a sample packet.

How do I use the female condom?

You insert the condom into your vagina prior to any sexualy activity. Carefully follow the structions on the box. Can be inserted up to 8 hours before intercourse. Failure to follow instructions may increase your chance of pregnancy.

How good is the female condom?

The plus side to having a condom for women available on this site, there is no longer an excuse for not using one. You have complete control over the situation. It is as effective as a male condom, it protects you from STDs and pregnancy.

The only disadvantages are that you lose sensation, they cost more than a male condom, may be difficult to insert inside properly, and once in place, it's clearly noticable.
