"If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich." -- John F. Kennedy

Jack Hanna Assists in Exploitation of Animals

AnaiRhoads.org - A popular wild animal exhibitor will be making his rounds this week with animals raised by a questionable organisation.

Jack Hanna, best known for bringing quirky and odd animals to talk shows and morning programmes, will display white lion cubs on the David Letterman Show on 10 May, followed by an appearance on Good Morning America (GMA) on the 11th.

While the public assumes the cubs are coming from a preservation or zoo, they will be coming from an ordinary breeder who stands to gain thousands of dollars from the publicity.

Kevin Chambers has made quite a living off exploiting animals since 1974. First by inter-breeding lions to produce the rare white cubs and then by renting them out.

Chambers, of Shelburn, Indiana, is the Vice President of the Feline Conservation Federation. His interest in big cats began in 1982, where he has boasted to be the first person in North America to have ever bred Irkutsk lynx.

He later founded the Zoological Animal Reproduction Center, which breeds a wide-range of species of wildlife in addition to the big cats. Chambers is licensed by the both the USDA and USF & W to breed, broker, import, and export wild animals.

According to his own biography, he has "transported animals all over the USA and to and from over 20 different foreign countries, dealing with facilities from all venues: research facilities, domestic and international zoos, private breeders, pet owners, entertainers, and exhibitors".

The cubs to be on display this week by Hannah are said to be worth $70,000 or more. While the purpose of breeding near-extinct animals is considered invaluable, Chambers' work only serves to profit himself.

Since his purpose is ill-founded, AnaiRhoads.org is asking that the public contact Mr. Chambers, GMA, and the Letterman Show.

Please be mindful of your language when you contact them so that the point gets across better. Send us a copy of your letter or tell us about your calls. (Read Kevin Chambers' Response here).
